In this climate /

Timber moves here more than people expect The UAE presents a specific challenge for joinery that catches out a lot of work: the difference between conditioned interior air and outside conditions is extreme, and it swings seasonally. Timber and timber-based boards respond to that by absorbing and releasing moisture, which means expanding and contracting. Joinery detailed without allowance for it develops the familiar faults - doors that bind in one season and gap in another, panels that split, veneers that lift at the edges, drawers that stick. Outdoor timber has it worse still, with UV degradation added on top.

This is manageable, and the solutions are well established: correct material selection for the location, properly sealed edges on all board products including hidden ones, floating panel construction where movement is expected, and appropriate tolerances at doors and drawers. None of it is exotic. It simply has to be designed in, and it usually is not.

The other thing that separates good joinery here is measurement. Walls in real buildings are not square, floors are not perfectly level, and ceilings are not consistently high. Joinery made to nominal dimensions and then packed out on site shows every one of those discrepancies. We template on site and manufacture to what is actually there.

Symptoms /

What we get called for most

Wardrobes that don't use the space

Freestanding furniture leaves dead volume above and beside it. Fitted joinery to ceiling height typically increases usable storage substantially in the same footprint. A kitchen that works but looks dated. Replacing doors, drawer fronts and worktops while keeping sound carcasses costs a fraction of a new kitchen and changes it completely. We will always offer this option where the carcasses are good.

Doors that stick, drop or won't close

Usually hinge wear, frame movement or humidity swing. Adjustment and rehanging solves most cases without replacement.

Fire door compliance

Fire-rated doors must be installed as a complete certified set - door, frame, intumescent seals, correct ironmongery and a self-closing device. A fire door propped open, or fitted with non-compliant hardware, does not perform. Buildings fail inspection on this regularly.

Something that has to fit an awkward space

Alcoves, sloped ceilings, irregular corners. This is exactly where bespoke joinery earns its cost, because nothing off the shelf will work.

Retail and office counters

Reception desks, display units, cash wraps. Often on a fit-out programme with a fixed opening date.

Outdoor structures

Pergolas and decking. Material choice matters enormously here - the wrong timber in full sun will look poor within a year.

Questions /

Frequently asked

Can you match my existing joinery?

Usually. We take samples and match material, finish and detailing as closely as available materials allow. An exact match on an older finish is not always possible, and we will say so upfront.

Is it cheaper to replace kitchen doors than the whole kitchen?

Considerably - often a fraction of the cost - and if the carcasses are sound it makes far more sense. We assess and tell you honestly which route is right.

Why do my doors stick in certain seasons?

Humidity change causing timber movement, hinge wear, or frame settlement. Adjustment usually solves it. Doors that stick badly year-round may need rehanging or easing.

What makes a fire door compliant?

It must be a certified set - the correct door leaf, frame, intumescent and smoke seals, compliant hardware and a self-closing device, correctly installed. Any substitution voids the rating. We install and document them as complete sets.

Which timber works outdoors in Dubai?

Species and treatment matter more than most people expect, given the UV exposure and heat. We specify for the location and finish appropriately. Composite alternatives are worth considering for decking where maintenance is a concern.

Do you repair damaged furniture?

Yes - structural repair, refinishing, re-spraying and hardware replacement.

Can you work in an occupied home?

Yes. Manufacture happens off site, so on-site time is short and relatively clean.
